Advanced flame retardants:

Where safety meets sustainability

HOFNIL-63GA

(Melamine Cyanurate-Based Flame Retardant for Polyamides)

HOFNIL-63GA is a specialized halogen-free flame-retardant additive developed for polyamide (PA6 and PA66) systems, including glass-filled compounds. Its phosphorus–nitrogen intumescent chemistry provides reliable fire resistance while maintaining the mechanical and electrical integrity of engineering plastics.

Traditional halogenated systems or red phosphorus often compromise stability, colour or safety. In contrast, HOFNIL-63GA offers a non-halogenated, non-toxic alternative that is compatible with high-performance nylon applications. It has been engineered to achieve UL94 V-0 ratings, even in glass-reinforced nylon formulations, making it particularly valuable for electrical, automotive and industrial applications where stringent fire safety standards must be met.

Typical Applications

Polymer / Substrate Application Areas Performance Outcome
PA6 / PA66 (glass-filled)
Connectors, switches, industrial housings
Achieves UL94 V-0 rating at recommended dosages
Electrical components
Circuit breakers, sockets, terminal blocks
Excellent electrical insulation + FR performance
Automotive plastics
Under-the-hood components, connectors, housings
Reliable performance under thermal and mechanical stress

Key Advantages

  • Optimized for Nylons – High efficiency in both neat and glass-filled PA6/PA66 compounds.
  • Superior Thermal Stability – Withstands nylon processing temperatures without degradation.
  • Mechanical Property Retention – Maintains strength and toughness of reinforced nylons.
  • UL94 V-0 Performance – Achieved in glass-reinforced nylon applications.
  • Safer Alternative – Non-halogenated, antimony-free, and non-toxic compared with traditional FR systems.
  • Low Smoke Emission – Intumescent action limits smoke and toxic off-gassing.
