Advanced flame retardants:

Where safety meets sustainability

HOFNIL-38C

(Halogen-Free Flame Retardant for Polyolefins)

HOFNIL-38C is an advanced halogen free flame-retardant additive engineered specifically for polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) systems. Its formulation is based on a phosphorus–nitrogen intumescent mechanism, providing reliable fire protection without the drawbacks of halogenated systems.

Compared with conventional ammonium polyphosphate (APP) blends, HOFNIL-38C delivers higher decomposition stability, improved water resistance, and superior compatibility with thermoplastic compounding. It is designed to achieve UL94 V-2 ratings in polyolefin compounds at optimized dosages, making it a strong choice for wire & cable insulation, automotive plastics, and electrical housings.

Typical Applications

Polymer / Substrate Application Areas Performance Outcome
Polypropylene (PP)
Compounds, automotive parts, moulded enclosures
UL94 V-2 compliance at recommended loadings
Polyethylene (PE)
Cable insulation, packaging films, profiles
Stable charring, reduced smoke emission
HIPS / ABS (secondary use)
Electrical housings, appliance casings
Eco-safe replacement for halogenated FRs

Key Advantages

  • High Efficiency in Polyolefins – Delivers flame retardant performance in PP/PE with optimized dosage levels.
  • Thermal Stability – Higher decomposition temperature than uncoated APP, ensuring processing reliability.
  • Enhanced Water Resistance – Low solubility improves long-term performance under humid conditions.
  • Non-halogenated & ATO-free – Safer alternative to conventional halogenated and antimony trioxide systems.
  • Low Smoke Emissions – Intumescent char formation suppresses smoke and toxic gas release.
  • Processing Flexibility – Suitable for compound and masterbatch production.
