Advanced flame retardants:
Where safety meets sustainability
HOFNIL-87R
(Antimony Trioxide-Free Flame Retardant Synergist)
HOFNIL-87R is a halogen-free flame-retardant synergist developed as a direct replacement for antimony trioxide (ATO) in polymer formulations. Conventional ATO is widely used but comes with toxicity, environmental and regulatory concerns. HOFNIL-87R eliminates these issues while maintaining or enhancing flame retardant performance when used in combination with phosphorus- or nitrogen-based systems.
By leveraging a carefully engineered phosphorus–nitrogen chemistry, HOFNIL-87R provides synergistic effects that allow compounders to achieve flame retardancy targets with lower additive loadings. It is highly efficient across multiple thermoplastics and elastomers, making it a sustainable and safer alternative for OEMs and compounders seeking antimony-free flame-retardant solutions.
Typical Applications
ATO replacement used in place of ATO with 100% compatibility in halogenated systems for all polymer type. In wire and cable applications, it helps to achieve the required LOI.
Key Advantages
- ATO Replacement – Provides equivalent or superior performance without health and environmental risks.
- Synergistic Action – Works effectively with phosphorus–nitrogen FR systems to improve char yield and reduce loading.
- Non-Toxic & Halogen-Free – Compliant with RoHS.
- Low Smoke & Eco-Safe – Reduces toxic emissions during combustion.
- Versatile Compatibility – Effective in polyolefins, engineering plastics, and elastomers.
- Processing Stability – Withstands typical thermoplastic processing without degradation.
